Binding/Binders are a piece of clothing. There commonly used by transmasculine and nonbinary people with chest dysphoria. Binding flattens breast tissue and gives the appearance of a masculine chest. This can create a feeling of gender euphoria and help someone pass.

Rules Of Binding[]

  • Never bind for more than eight hour per day,
  • Never sleep in a binder.
  • Never sleep or take showers/baths in binders.
  • Always take of binder when in pain,
  • Never wear binders that are the wrong size.
  • Don't wear a binder while working out. Use sports bras instead.[1]
  • Tightness doesn't mean better binding.[2]

Styles of Binders[]

  • Long shirt: These types of binders are like a full tank top. Some of them may include a stomach compression component. Others have a relaxed stomach. These tuck into pants easily and that can prevent them rolling up,
  • Mid length: These typically reach to the belly button or top of pants.
  • Sports bra: These are strictly used for chest compression. These are great for avoiding overheating or feeling uncomfortable in a full length binder.
  • Vest: These commonly have velcro or zipper to make putting on and taking off easier.[1]

Sports bra-[]

Using two sports bras one forward and the second backward will create a binding effect. Sports bras that are labelled as "no bounce" bras. Wearing a size smaller as long as it's not painful or constricting will help to.[2]
