Multisexual is a term that describes someone who is attracted to more than one gender. It is considered an umbrella term, of which is known as the multisexual spectrum or m-spec, that includes labels such as bisexual, polysexual, omnisexual, pansexual, and other terms characterised as being attracted to more than one gender. Multisexual can also be a stand-alone identity for anyone who does not know where they stand on the spectrum, or does not wish to specify their sexuality any further.

The opposite of multisexual is monosexual.

History & Coining[]

Not much is known about the history of this term, however, one source states this: the term multisexual has been around since at least the 1970s. However, the label likely became popular because of the bisexual vs. pansexual debate. It was probably created as a way to bring some peace into the discourse communities, by presenting a label that anyone who's attracted to more than one gender can use.
