History & Coining[]

The term "patroclian" refers to the Greek figure Patroclus and their relationship with the famous Greek hero Achilles, which is commonly said to have romantic and sexual connotations. This term is made to compliment the Achillean, Diamoric, and Sapphic attractions.

Terms like patroclic[1] or patroclean were also used before.[2]

Flag[]

The purple in the flag represents love. In ancient Rome and 19th century England, green indicated gay affiliations.[3] The hyacinth flower, designed after the carnation flower in the achillean flag, references a Greek myth featuring Apollo and his lover Hyacinth, in which he dies and becomes a flower of the same name. The patroclian flag was designed by Twitter user Angel (@CowboySolace), along with the attraction's name and etymology, and created by their partner, Twitter user @Evilkermit21.[4]
