Pomosexual, sometimes called Lablen't, is a term describing somebody that does not want to label their sexuality, or doesn't fit any existing labels for a certain type of attraction. Someone who identifies as pomosexual may or may not feel sexual attraction, but has an aversion to labelling it or doesn't suit any existing orientations. There are many reasons as to why this could be the case, some examples are:
- They feel that there is no point to labelling their sexuality
- They feel an aversion to doing so
- They reject labels entirely and/or don't agree with the way sexuality is labelled
- They feel that they don't suit any orientations in existence
- They feel that their sexuality couldn't possibly be described
Pomosexual can also act as an umbrella term with the following four branches:
- Comsexual (experiencing sexual attraction but being unable to/not wanting to specify any further)
- Novisexual (experiencing complicated attraction or lack of attraction)
- Omniacepomo (having no gender preference and knowing you are ace-spec but being unsure where)
- Cryptosexual (being confused by your orientation)
The term was coined in 1997 by Carol Queen and Lawrence Schimel.
The prefix pomo- is short for postmodern.
